Information and application for our audition on April 16, 2026.
The Zürcher Sing-Akademie is a permanent professional concert choir in chamber choir size (32). Due to our role as a symphonic choir – in collaboration with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and others – we are always interested in getting to know potential new / additional singers.
The next audition will take place in April 2026 and is open to professional singers of all registers who have a high degree of musicality, flexibility and ensemble experience.
The audition consists of two parts:
A) The solo audition (max. 10′)
- Two pieces (aria or Lied) from different periods and in different languages; one of the pieces presented should be from the Baroque period.
- Compulsory piece:
Anton Webern: ‘Entflieht auf leichten Kähnen’ op. 2
This compulsory piece does not have to be sung from memory, but it will be performed unaccompanied (without piano).
B) Ensemble audition (15′):
Two choral pieces will be rehearsed with other auditionees, under the direction of Florian Helgath.
- J. Brahms: ‘Dein Herzlein mild’, op. 62, No. 4
- J.S. Bach: ‘Dona nobis pacem’ from the Mass in B minor BWV 232
The choir pieces do not have to be sung from memory.
Please note that the piano will be tuned to a’ = 442. An accompanist will be provided. The audition (including the ensemble element) will last a maximum of 3.5 hours.
A pre-selection will be made based on the submissions.
You will be informed of any invitation as soon as possible after the registration deadline on Sun March 1, 2026.
