Auditions 2024
Information and registration details for our forthcoming auditions on 18 and 19 June 2024
The Zürcher Sing-Akademie is first and foremost a professional chamber choir consisting of 32 regular singers. We also regularly fulfil the role of a symphonic choir in our collaborations with the Tonhalle Orchestra and other orchestras; we are therefore always interested to hear from singers to augment our numbers for these occasions.
The next set of auditions will take place in June 2024. The auditions are open to professional singers of all voice parts; all singers are required to have a high degree of musicality, flexibility, and ensemble experience.
The audition consists of two parts:
A) The solo audition (max. 10′)
- Two pieces (aria or Lied) from different periods and in different languages; one of the pieces presented should be from the Baroque period.
- Compulsory piece:
Anton Webern: ‘Entflieht auf leichten Kähnen’ op. 2
This compulsory piece does not have to be sung does not have to, but it will be performed unaccompanied (without piano).
- Sight reading
B) Ensemble audition (15′):
Two choral pieces will be rehearsed with other auditionees, under the direction of Florian Helgath.
- J. Brahms: ‘Dein Herzlein mild’, op. 62, No. 4
- J.S. Bach: ‘Dona nobis pacem’ from the Mass in B minor BWV 232
The choir pieces do not have to be sung from memory.
Please note that the piano will be tuned to a’ = 442. An accompanist will be provided. The compulsory pieces will be sent to you by email. The audition (including the ensemble element) will last a maximum of 3.5 hours.
The application deadline is 1 May 2024. Please send your completed form and attachments by e-mail to projektleitung@sing-akademie.ch. Applications that are late or incomplete will not be considered.
The applications will be subjected to a pre-selection process, after which we will issue invitations to audition.
Expenses incurred will not be reimbursed.
