Florian Helgath has established himself as one of the leading choral conductors of this generation. He has been Artistic Director of ChorWerk Ruhr since 2011 and was appointed Artistic Director of the Z\u00fcrcher Sing-Akademie in 2017. With these two ensembles he explores choral music from all eras, ranging from a cappella repertoire to the vast choral works of the symphonic genre.<\/p>\n

Florian Helgath is a regular guest with leading vocal ensembles and conducts choral symphonic programs with renowned orchestras. Performances have taken him to numerous major concert halls, the Berlin Festival, Schwetzingen Festival, Audi Summer Concerts, Eclat Festival Neue Musik Stuttgart, Th\u00fcringer Bachwochen and, in particular, the Ruhrtriennale, where he has designed various contemporary music theater productions and other projects.<\/p>\n

His discography includes numerous highly acclaimed recordings that have won prizes such as the ICMA Award and ECHO Klassik or have been nominated for a Grammy.<\/p>\n

Florian Helgath\u2019s formative musical experiences took place in his native town, where he was a member of the Regensburger Domspatzen; he continued his studies at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Theater in M\u00fcnchen. His most important teachers include Michael Gl\u00e4ser, Stefan Parkman and Dan Olof Stenlund.<\/p>\n

He achieved international successes as prize-winner at competitions including the Eric Ericson Award in Sweden (2006) and the International Competition for Young Choral Conductors in Budapest (2007).<\/p>\n

From 2009 to 2015, Florian Helgath conducted the Danish Radio Choir and was conductor of the Via Nova Choir Munich from 2008 to 2016. He has conducted numerous world premieres with this ensemble and has been awarded national and international prizes.<\/p>\n

Florian Helgath was appointed professor of choral conducting at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Tanz in Cologne in October 2020 and has held a professorship at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Theater in Munich since spring 2024.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
