ow many musical works may there be that have been played and heard so often and yet never lose their beauty, their force and their power? With the St. Matthew Passion, Johann Sebastian Bach created such a masterpiece.
Actually, it is not an option to stand on stage as a professional chorister and to get a lump in your throat because one is so touched by the music itself. But probably it has happened to many of us during this piece...
We are incredibly looking forward to two very special concerts, in which we will take up the challenge of creating delicate and fragile chorales, vicious and brutal mob sounds or “summarising” choruses rich in detail and colour. To call the baroque orchestra La Scintilla an accompanist would not do justice either to the task or to the group itself: the ensemble is a magnificent interpreter, infusing greatest joy of playing and richness of details in each performance.
A wonderful soloist ensemble lets us experience the arias and recitatives, led by tenor Jan Petryka, who will narrate the story as the Evangelist.
